چکیده

Does a heterogeneous agents version of a neoclassical model with labor}leisure choice replicate the distributions of consumption and working hours observed in the crosssectional data? Does incorporating heterogeneity enhance the aggregate performance of the representative agent model? We address these questions in a complete market model economy with two sources of heterogeneity: initial endowments and non-acquired skills. We "nd positive answers to both questions. 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved. JEL classixcation: E32; E13

The Impact of International Migration on the Economy with the Assumption of Labor Heterogeneity

T his study investigated the effect of international labor migration on Iran’s economy using a neo-classical growth model with the assumption of labor heterogeneity within the framework of dynamic stochastic general equilibrium model. After solving the model, the obtained equations were linearized and different values were assigned to the parameters according to Iran’s economy inform...

Capital , innovation , and growth accounting

In this paper we show how moving from the neoclassical model to the more recent endogenous growth paradigm can lead to markedly different interpretations of the same growth accounting data. In neoclassical theory, even if between 30 and 70 per cent of the growth of output per worker in OECD countries can be ‘accounted for’ by capital accumulation, yet in the long run all of the growth in output...

Capital Growth Paths of the Neoclassical Growth Model

This paper derives the first-order approximated paths of both types of capital in the two-capital neoclassical growth model. The derived capital growth paths reveal that the short-run growth effect of capital injection differs considerably depending on which type of capital is enhanced. This result demonstrates the importance of well-targeted capital enhancement programs such as public sector p...

Intangible Capital and International Income Differences

I add intangible capital to a variant of the neoclassical growth model and study the implications for cross-country income differences. I calibrate the parameters associated with intangible capital by using new estimates of investment in intangibles by Corrado et al. (2006). When intangible capital is added to the model, the TFP elasticity of output increases from 2.14 to 2.64. This finding imp...
